Why we build for European businesses, and what we believe about how they actually work.

What We Believe About European Business

European businesses do not operate the way Silicon Valley assumes they do.

The dominant AI narrative — fast scaling, blitzscaling, capital-fueled growth, winner-takes-all markets — is calibrated for a small slice of the global economy. Most of the world’s businesses don’t look like that, and almost none of Europe’s do. The growing manufacturer in Baden-Württemberg, the SaaS company in Tallinn, the logistics operator in Lyon — these are disciplined, capital-efficient operators serving real customers across regulatory environments that don’t exist in California. They’ve survived longer than most US unicorns will.

EU SMEs represent 99.8% of all enterprises in the European Union, employ approximately 100 million people, and generate over half of the EU’s business value added.1 This is not a niche market. It is the European economy. And it is the market least well served by the AI tools currently shipping from the United States.

Why That Matters

Generic AI tools are trained on what the world has written down. The world has written down a lot about Unilever, Salesforce, and General Electric. It has written almost nothing about the 23 million small and medium businesses that actually make up European commerce. When a frontier language model is asked about pricing strategy or market entry or competitive positioning, it returns advice calibrated for a buyer with a McKinsey retainer and a brand team. That advice is not wrong. It is miscalibrated.

European SMEs need the practical strategic intelligence that AI can now deliver. They do not need it filtered through assumptions made for companies a hundred times their size.

What Znu-Cloud Builds

Tools that fit European business reality. Built with EU data sovereignty as a core architectural commitment, not a compliance checkbox. Priced for businesses that count their costs. Calibrated for the rhythms, regulations, and customer behaviors that actually shape European commerce.

The products are described elsewhere on this site. The principles are these: practical, affordable, defensibly European.

Who We Are

Our technical co-founder is Grover Righter. He has spent more than 20 years working with 200+ tech companies as a platform consultant — CRM, marketing automation, and ERP. Before that, he co-authored several RFCs and technical papers on software portability, served on the original IEEE POSIX committee, and worked through the Bell Labs UNIX commercialization era at Novell and SCO. Grover’s previous company was acquired by IBM/ROLM, and he has participated in several public offerings in the high tech space.

Znu-Cloud OÜ is incorporated in Estonia (registry code 17390732), with infrastructure hosted in the EU and engineering work conducted across European time zones. EU data sovereignty isn’t a marketing position for us. It’s the architecture.

Our extended team of platform engineers, CRM experts and data processing specialists are all well versed in the regulations and practice of GDPR, HIPAA and ISO/IEC 27001. Not only do we conform to data privacy standards, they are integral to our identity as a company.

We’ve watched the same patterns repeat across hundreds of companies for two decades: dirty data, miscalibrated strategy, vendors selling capability without context. Znu-Cloud is the company we would have wanted to hire many years ago.
